Forum 2006 (European) 2.11.2006, Helsinki region, Finland
>> Participants ParticipantsThe forum was participated by invited decision-makers and opinion leaders holding a central position in regards to the sustainable use of renewable natural resources for social benefits, competitiveness and well-being in their respective countries, or in Europe. The forum had 42 participants from 15 different European countries. They represented several sectors (e.g., forest sector, energy, environment, construction, rural development and regional policy) and organisation types (e.g. public administration, business, interest groups, R&D and education and NGOs) << Back ProgramForum 2.11.2006 The forum offered strategic insight to the use of renewable natural resources by internationally known speakers, followed by active input of the participants representing different sectors. Interactive approaches and modern group work methods were used to ensure effective input of the participants, and to compile results and messages to be delivered to ongoing policy and strategy processes. Excursion 3.11.2006 The excursion began with a visit to Finnforest Modular Office (FMO) Tapiola, constructed in 2005. It is Europe's highest wooden office building with 5 stories and 8000 m2 space. Wood-based energy accounts for 20% of all primary energy used in Finland. During the excursion, the wood energy chain was demonstrated, and future opportunities of biorefineries were addressed. << Back | |||
