The Finnish Forest Association is an organisation for the co-operation of its members and stakeholder groups; its main activity is communication. The Association’s aim is to provide information on the potential of forests in solving societal problems and to promote the acceptance of a responsible use of forests.
To carry out its activity, the Finnish Forest Association gathers information and publishes it through several channels, including the www.forest.fi web pages which it maintains.
Forest-related Communication
The Association carries on forest-related communication activity in Finland and internationally. This is directed to decision-makers in the forest sector and elsewhere in society, as well as other groups, such as journalists working in different media.
The main target areas of the Association’s international communications are the United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands.
Forest Academy for Decision-Makers
Forest Academy for Decision-Makers is a forest forum for decision-makers in all spheres of Finnish society, both in the forest sector and outside it, for politicians, authorities, business actors, the media, NGOs and ENGOs.

Co-operation with Schools
The aim of the Association’s co-operation with schools is to make sure that every inhabitant of Finland has the basic information and skills associated with occupations and business related to or based on forests and their use, as well as with forest culture and forest environment and its protection.
Annual Finnish Forests Conference
Metsäviestintä Oy, a company owned by the Finnish Forest Association, organises the annual nationwide Finnish Forests Conference, bringing together all those with an interest in forest issues.
Most of the Association’s funding is derived from project grants. The funding is mainly provided by the Finnish Ministry for Agriculture and Forestry and the private Finnish Forest Foundation.
